Food Sensitivity Testing

Food Sensitivity Testing in Coralville, Iowa

Do you struggle with any of these: brain fog, acne/skin rashes, moodiness, headaches, food cravings, fatigue, joint pain, gas, bloating or constipation?  If you do, food sensitivities could be the culprit.

First off, 70% of our immune system lives within our intestinal lining. When the intestinal lining is compromised, our immune system suffers. Let’s paint a picture. Imagine your intestinal lining looks like a bug screen on a window. When we eat, the food passes slowly through our intestines and gets broken down into particles small enough to pass through the bug screen (aka intestinal wall) and out into the bloodstream. If the food particles pass through the bug screen like they are supposed to, the body considers it safe for the food to be in the bloodstream.

Thanks to certain foods, stress, GMO’s, pharmaceuticals, and gluten, our intestinal lining can be easily compromised. When this happens, food particles pass into our bloodstream that are too large and our body sounds the alarm, beep, beep, beep, “foreign invaders are in the bloodstream!”

Our immune system then sends out its soldiers to fight off the invaders. While our body does its job of fighting off the bad guys, we can experience a side effect of pain, redness, or swelling (inflammation). For people with a healthy intestinal lining, this inflammation only lasts a short time until the immune system wins. For those with a compromised intestinal lining, the inflammation can last longer and eventually turn into chronic inflammation leading to chronic disease.

Food sensitivities symptoms can show up right away but most often are a few days later. The most common symptom of food sensitivities is joint pain. Most people think they are just getting older, but there could be more to it.

Food sensitivity testing is one way to find out what foods you might be sensitive to but yet completely unaware of. The testing provides a detailed report showing what you are sensitive to and how much.

The good news is most food sensitivities can be healed.  A sensitivity is often due to a person eating too much of the same thing or the intestinal lining needs to be healed.  Often if a food is eliminated from the diet for a period of 4-6 months, the intestinal lining can heal and the food could possibly be eaten again.

[us_testimonial author=”- Sue” company=””]“Around 9 months ago I reached out to Amy because I felt like I was out of control. I have a stressful job as a school administrator and I was honestly living on caffeine and sugar. I was so tired! I was absolutely exhausted every day after work and I was gaining weight. Amy recommended changes in my diet. It’s not been an easy road, but I have eliminated sugar – especially candy and Diet Coke and I’ve replaced my treats with my healthier choices like greek yogurt and water! My energy is coming back and I am feeling so much more in-control of my diet, my body and my life.” [/us_testimonial]
